Building Construction is intended to be a two-year course of study. Units of instruction include wall and floor framing, exterior wall coverings, roof construction, and doors and windows. Realistic work experience will be provided for students. A more advanced program is available to second year students who qualify.
Second year students do building layout, rafter construction, and focus on more detailed building construction. Work related decision making is stressed for second year students.
The purpose of this course is to encourage student success in the understanding and building of a wood frame structure.
This course presents safe and effective construction techniques with hand and power tools.
The purpose of this course is to provide a structure for student success in understanding of the concept and construction of basic wood frame structures. Moreover,students are encouraged to use that success to spark a desire to continue in the trade through further education, apprenticeship, or entry-level construction employment.
