The Emergency Medical Services program is designed around the National Emergency Medical Technician EMT curriculum for students who are interested in pursuing career and post-secondary options in medical fields.  This course is designed to provide students with a variety of opportunities including dual enrollment credits, clinical experiences, national certifications and a solid background in anatomy/physiology and emergency medicine.

The class dynamics encompass a wide variety of learning styles to maximize the educational experience for each student.  The first portion of the course focuses on Anatomy & Physiology of the human body, medical terminology, and CPR/First Aid.  The second portion of the course emphasizes the Emergency Medical Technician – EMT certification requirements.  Students who successfully complete this program may be eligible to sit for the NREMT exam and become licensed EMTs at the National & State levels.  They also can earn Wilderness First Responder Certification plus 5.5 credits through Eastern Maine Community College.

Students in this program will gain hands-on experience through a number of clinical rotations at area hospitals and EMS services throughout the year.  The hands-on experience provides students with practice and clinical experiences which prepare students for a successful future in the medical field.
