Preparing Students for Career, College, & Community

The first year of Auto Technology covers basic automotive topics.  The students will learn basic automotive theory in areas of safety, tools, vehicle maintenance, braking systems, steering and suspension, and basic engines.  The program structure includes both in class theory and lab work.  During the year the students will learn how to write and read work orders, speak with customers, and research service information.   

During a student’s second year of the program, he/she will build on the previous topics and gain knowledge in engine repair, engine performance, heating and air conditioning systems, electrical and electronics.  While taking classes at WCTC the students will have a chance to earn college credits through Eastern Maine Community College.  The WCTC Automotive program is NATEF certified in Maintenance and Light Repair.
